A Sacred Legacy for Tomorrow
The Shivalaya Community Hall Project
Raised so far
£0
Our goal
£198,000
Shivalaya is building a new Community Hall for our growing community — a welcoming space for satsang, cultural and spiritual events and community activities. Let us come together to build a lasting legacy of faith, unity and service for future generations.
This is our most ambitious undertaking yet — a £198,000 endeavour. Through the generosity of devotees, we have already raised £158,000 — leaving just £40,000 to reach our goal.
Planning permission has been granted by Leicester City Council, and construction is now well under way — with the build nearing the halfway stage. With your continued support, we can see this sacred project through to completion.

Solar Panels & Battery Storage for Shivalaya
Our next endeavour is to install rooftop solar panels together with Tesla Powerwall battery storage at the temple. This will let Shivalaya draw upon the light of the sun — Surya, revered in our tradition as the divine source of light and life — to sustain daily worship and community activities with clean, renewable energy.
Beyond the practical benefits of lower running costs and greater resilience, this project is rooted in a sacred principle: the care and protection of the Earth, our mother.
We are seeking to raise approximately £15,000 to fund this installation.
LONGi Hi-MO X10 — 485W Panels
- 485W per panel
- Up to 24.5% efficiency
- N-type back-contact (HPBC 2.0)
- 30-year linear performance warranty
LONGi's current flagship residential panel. Each all-black module produces 485 watts using advanced back-contact cell technology, giving industry-leading efficiency of up to 24.5% and excellent shade tolerance — so the array keeps generating well even in overcast British weather or partial shadow. They degrade under 1% in the first year and retain nearly 89% of their output after 30 years.
Tesla Powerwall 3 — 13.5kWh Storage
- 13.5 kWh usable capacity
- 11.5 kW continuous output
- Safe LFP battery chemistry
- 10-year warranty
A single Powerwall 3 stores 13.5 kilowatt-hours of energy — enough to keep the temple's lighting, worship and daily activities running well into the evening from solar generated during the day. It delivers up to 11.5 kW of continuous power, provides seamless backup during any grid outage, and uses safe, long-life LFP cells all managed through the Tesla app.

Clean Solar Energy
Rooftop panels to power daily worship, lighting and temple activities with the light of the sun.
Battery Storage
Tesla Powerwall storage keeps the temple running through the evening and safeguards our sacred services.
Lower Impact & Costs
Reduced carbon footprint and lower running costs — savings that can be redirected to seva and welfare.

A Scriptural Standpoint
Hindu scripture holds the natural world as sacred. Protecting the Earth and using her resources wisely is not merely practical — it is dharma.
माता भूमिः पुत्रोऽहं पृथिव्याः
Mātā bhūmiḥ putro'haṃ pṛthivyāḥ
"The Earth is my mother, and I am her child." The Bhūmi Sūkta enshrines reverence for the Earth as a sacred duty — caring for her air, water and resources is an act of devotion.
Atharva Veda 12.1.12 — Bhūmi Sūkta
ॐ द्यौः शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिः
Om dyauḥ śāntir antarikṣaṁ śāntiḥ
This peace invocation seeks harmony across the heavens, the atmosphere, the earth, the waters and all creation — a call to live in balance with the natural world rather than against it.
Yajur Veda 36.17 — Shanti Mantra
ईशावास्यमिदं सर्वम्
Īśāvāsyam idaṁ sarvam
"All this is pervaded by the Divine." To honour the sacred in all of creation is to use the Earth's gifts mindfully — taking only what we need and preserving the rest.
Isha Upanishad, Verse 1
